Don’t Think Before You Speak

But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. – Mark 13:11.

I don’t know if you are analytical like me, but whenever I have to give a speech or whenever I have to talk to someone, I rehearse what I am going to say.  I premeditate what I need to say.  Then when I have to speak, I forget what I was going to say because my nerves take over.  I find I do better when I wing it.

Instead of giving thought to what we are to say to people, we need to pray that the Holy Spirit will speak through us to that individual or to that group.  We must surrender the use of our tongues to Him.
