The Old Me Is Gone

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  – Philippians 3:13

Whenever I am going along, doing something I love to do, such as writing, I get flashes of things I did in the past that I am not proud of.  In fact, I’d love to erase any memory of my past because it is not the person I am today…at least for the most part.

Or people, who I haven’t spoken to in more than twelve to twenty years, suddenly contact me and want to discuss the past.  I have had eight people within the last two years do just that.

For me, my past is just that past.  I am okay reconnecting with people from my past…as long as the person wants to get to know me for who I am now.

However, I am not okay with being the person I used to be.  That version of myself is dead, under the blood of Jesus, and I refuse to let her rise from the dead.

I am a new creature in Christ Jesus.  Old things have passed away (II Corinthians 5:17).

I may not be able to forget the past, but I don’t have to let it define my now or my future.

I am who God says I am…and He loves me unconditionally, without measure, no matter I say or do.  I don’t have to be “on” for God.  I can just be me…and He loves me just as I am faults and all.

Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?  Do you believe Jesus died to pay the price for your sin?  That He was raised from the dead?  Then just pray aloud, “Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins.  Come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour.”  If you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth, you are Born-again.  Let us know if you prayed this prayer.
