Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7.
This Scripture in James advises you to submit yourself to God.
What does it mean to submit yourself to God? The Greek transliterated word here for submit yourselves is hupotasso. It means to submit to one’s control, to yield to one’s admonition or advice, to obey, be subject.
In other words, you are to yield yourself to God.
Many times Christians are Christians in name only. They have accepted Christ, yes. They are going to Heaven, yes, but they have no victory in their lives. Why?
It is because they are like the Laodicean church in Revelation 3:16, to whom God said that He would spit out of His mouth because they were neither hot nor cold toward God.
You have to be committed to God, to be sold out to Him. You cannot live your life with one foot in the world and one foot in God. It doesn’t work that way.
You either do things God’s way or the world’s way. You cannot do both.
There are preachers who are mixing law and grace. This cannot be done. You are either under grace or under the law, but you cannot mix the two.
It is only when you yield yourself fully to God, that you will be able to resist the devil in your life. It is only through God’s grace and power working through you that you can do anything worthwhile at all.
