God Isn’t Judging
And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son? – I Kings 17:18
This woman is the widow who had enough food to make a last meal for her and her son. If you remember, Elijah told her to make a meal for him first. Then her flour and oil never ran out until the drought ended.
Now her son died. Immediately she thought her sin had killed her son. She thought that her son’s death was punishment for her sin.
However, Elijah showed the love and compassion of God. Instead of listing her sins, he raised her son from the dead just as we see Jesus do with Jarius’ daughter.
God isn’t punishing us for our sins. Jesus already took the punishment for all our sins.
Now God is free to be as loving, merciful, gracious and compassionate to us as He wants to be…and He wants to overflow us with His blessings, love, mercy, grace and compassion.
