Your Purpose Is Calling

Where Is Your Focus?

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. – Romans 6:14

Many talk about sin in the church, that we must crucify the flesh, and I agree that sin is bad, that we must not allow it to rule our lives.

However, where I differ on this issue is where to place the focus.  I don’t feel that focusing on sin and not sinning produces the results the church is looking for.

We still have adultery, witchcraft, strife, fornication and gossip going on in the churches.

People in the churches pay lip service to who they are in Christ.  They know that the Bible says they are righteous, that they are blameless, that they are without reproach in the sight of God, but they are not grounded and established in being the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Many are still trying to earn righteous, right standing with God.  It is a free gift.  Jesus took all our sin and gave us His right standing with God.

Once we focus on being righteous in God’s sight based on Jesus and not on us.  We will begin to do the right things effortlessly, without trying, because where our minds goes our lives go.

  1. This is so true and profound. We concentrate too much on not sinning and we need to focus more on living our lives as Jesus did.
