Your Purpose Is Calling

Do You Give Out Of Love?

“He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor” (Proverbs 22:9).

Many of us think that if God helps those who help themselves (which is not in the Bible and is contrary to what the Gospels  preaches), then the poor have to suffer the consequences and must fend for themselves.

However Jesus was never about suffering consquences in the Gospels.  He never asked sick people if they tithed, went to synogague or did good deeds.  He was about meeting the needs of those in need.

And if we are going to imitate Jesus, we need to help people without asking for a return on our investment, without lecturing them or doing it out of obligation.  We need to love them because it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance.
