“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14)?
What are dead works? Dead works are like sacrificing to animals when Christ has died once and for all for our sins. Dead works are being conscious of sin twenty-four/seven. These are unnecessary in view of what Christ did for us. Our consciences convict us of sin even when the Holy Spirit isn’t. Therefore it is necessary for the blood of Jesus to cleanse our consciences of our dead works.
