Your Purpose Is Calling

Old Or New?

“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Matthew 12:36-37

Is this under the Old Covenant? Or under the New? If you stated under the New because it is in the New Testament, you would be wrong.
It is placed in the New Testament, yes, but the Bible should be divided by the Cross. Jesus hadn’t died yet, making this part of the Old Covenant.
Why is that important?
Because Jesus took all our sins. He took the punishment for all our sins, so we would never have to feel the wrath of God against us ever again.

  1. This is a difficult question. But you are not righteous unless you work, unless you actively believe in love. So the words of Jesus are valid for today too.

But a righteous person, a true Christian, has nothing to fear. He will never speak a careless word.

You are not righteous by works or following the law. You are righteous because Jesus died for you, because Jesus shed His blood for your punishment of sin. True Christians sin all the time because we aren’t aware of all the dos and don’ts of the Bible. Jesus was perfect for us. When we believe that our righteousness is in Christ and not of ourselves, then we will do right effortlessly. Believing right comes first. Obedience and good works are the by-products.
