Mad or Compassionate?

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made – Psalm 145:8-9

The Scripture says here that the Lord is slow to anger, yet God is already shown in books, movies and television shows as being ready to hit us over the head for everything we do wrong. That is not the God I serve. I serve the God who is gracious, compassionate and who went to the Cross to be crucified in my stead. That was God on that Cross. In the form of Jesus but God nevertheless.
