Can You Produce?
I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. – John 15:5 (KJV)
Imagine a vine for a moment. Think about the branches. See the fruit those branches. What caused that fruit, the vine or the branches? If the branch were cut off from the vine, could it produce fruit? No.
All of it’s resources, abilities, its nourishment, come from being hooked to the power source. Without the power source of the vine, the branches would die.
As branches, we depend on Jesus the Vine for our nourishment, our abilities, for everything.
Without Him, we can do nothing. We can’t breathe or stay alive without Him.
It is when we just rest, just receive, from the Vine that everything we need comes to us.
Our only job is to rest in God’s promises.
